This glampground, planned for near Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, is an eco-conscious retreat nestled in the protected Ohi’a lehua forest, in Kilaeuea, Hawaii. Embracing a "light on the land" ethos, the project minimizes site disturbance by elevating walkways above the variable terrain and avoiding the Ohia drip zone. Circular clusters of cabins encircling native planting connect conceptually with the volcanic national park context, blending seamlessly with the environment. At the heart of the glampground is a Japanese/Hawaiian-themed onsen bathhouse, with a paving scheme influenced by the Pahoehoe lava fields and geothermal activity. The overall project, inspired by ecological preservation, cultural richness, and contemporary design, creates a unique and luxurious experience where guests can reconnect with nature.
